Junior Devils Sweep DCE in Doubleheader
July 11 — The Junior Devils wrapped up the regular season Monday night with a doubleheader sweep over D.C. Everest. Marshfield picked up a 6-4 win in the first game and a 2-1 win in the second game. The two wins capped an 8-game winning streak to end the regular season for the Junior Devils.
The Marshfield Legion Junior Devils took the lead late in the game in a 6-4 victory over D.C. Everest Jr. Legion on Monday. The game was tied at four with Marshfield batting in the bottom of the sixth when #16 uncorked a wild pitch, scoring two runs.
D.C. Everest Jr. Legion scored three runs in the first inning, but Marshfield still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning for D.C. Everest Jr. Legion came thanks to a walk by #19 and a single by #54.
D.C. Everest Jr. Legion captured the lead in the first inning. #19 drove in a run when he walked with the bases loaded.
Will Voss earned the win for the Junior Devils. He pitched six innings, surrendering four runs, nine hits, and striking out eight. Joey Goettl recorded the last three outs to earn the save. #2 took the loss for D.C. Everest Jr. Legion. He went five innings, surrendering four runs, and five hits.
Isaiah Baierl, Tyler Spaeth, Schillinger, and Joey Goettl each collected one hit to lead Marshfield Legion Junior Devils. The Junior Devils didn't commit a single error in the field. Mason Coffren had ten chances in the field, the most on the team.
The Junior Devils will not get set for Regional action in Stevens Point. Games get underway Wednesday at Bukolt Park. Marshfield will be in action Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. when they take on the host Stevens Point. The tournament is double elimination.
