Junior Devils Finish 2-2 at Regionals
July 17 — The Junior Devils opened up regional action with a loss to Stevens Point 7-1. They rebounded in the second game with a 15-13 win over Wausau to stave off elimination.
On Friday, the Junior Devils defeated Antigo 7-6 to advance to take on Plover. But their run ended against Plover, the eventual Regional winner. The Blue Devils fell 8-2 to the Black Sox.
Marshfield Legion Junior Devils watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 7-1 loss to Stevens Point Jr. Legion on Wednesday. Stevens Point Jr. Legion scored on a single by #10 in the first inning and a error in the second inning.
Stevens Point took an early lead in the first inning. With one out in the first inning #10 drove in one run when he singled.
Marshfield Legion Junior Devils got out to a nine-run lead in the sixth inning and held on for a 15-13 victory over Wausau Jr. Legion on Thursday. Wausau scored seven runs in the failed comeback on an error, a walk by #33, a walk by #10, a walk by #12, and a single by #1.
Wausau Jr. Legion took an early lead in the first inning. #27 singled on a 2-1 count in the first inning, scoring one run.
Marshfield took the lead for good with eight runs in the third inning. In the third #4 walked Caden Schillinger to drive in a run, Mason Coffren walked to drive in a run, Mitch Wilhelm walked to drive in a run, Ryan Zickert singled off of #20, driving in two runs, Spaeth singled off of #20, driving in one run, and Devin Palmer singled off of #20, driving in two runs.
Marshfield and Antigo Jr. Legion traded the lead back-and-forth on Friday, but eventually Marshfield prevailed 7-6. The Junior Devils took the lead for good in the sixth inning. The game was tied at six with Marshfield batting in the top of the sixth when Mason Coffren singled off of #27, driving in one run.
The Junior Devils collected 12 hits and Antigo Jr. Legion had 11 in the high-scoring affair.
Antigo Jr. Legion took an early lead in the first inning. Antigo Jr. Legion scored two runs when #20 doubled with zero outs in the first inning.
Antigo Jr. Legion scored three runs in the fifth inning. Antigo Jr. Legion's big inning was driven by a single by #8 and a groundout.
Marshfield fell behind early and couldn't come back in an 8-2 loss to Plover Jr. Legion on Friday. Plover Jr. Legion scored on a double by #15 in the first inning, a single by #15 in the second inning, a walk by #5 in the second inning, a walk by #2 in the second inning, and a single by #9 in the second inning.
The Junior Devils lost despite out-hitting Plover Jr. Legion eight to seven.
Plover Jr. Legion captured the lead in the first inning. #15 doubled on a 3-2 count in the first inning, scoring one run.
